Specialist Materials
01
Duplex Stainless Steels
Duplex stainless steels are commonly used for offshore applications and have their own unique fabrication and welding methods that are fully understood and practised by Langfields.
This unique composition provides high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good toughness, but also makes welding more complex compared to standard stainless steels.
Materials specifications include:

02
Super Duplex Stainless Steels
Super Duplex Stainless Steels (SDSS), such as UNS S32750 (2507) and UNS S32760, offer high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
Duplex stainless steel (DSS) and super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) share a similar dual-phase microstructure, consisting of approximately 50% ferrite and 50% austenite. However, super duplex stainless steels have higher alloy content, providing superior mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

03
High Nickel Alloys
High nickel alloys are metal alloys containing over 50% nickel, known for their exceptional corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and oxidation resistance.
Welding techniques have been developed that are unique to Langfields and ensure high nickel alloy products that are of the highest quality.

04
Stainless Steels
Langfields are manufacturers of stainless steel pressure systems, components and process plant fora range of industries.
Stainless steels are widely used in construction, chemical processing, food production, aerospace, and marine environments due to their versatility, durability, and resistance to rust, stains, and wear.

05
Titanium
Langfields are manufacturers of titanium pressure systems and components for a range of industries.
Since titanium is highly reactive at elevated temperatures, it requires careful control of shielding gases like argon or helium to protect the weld area from oxidation and contamination.

06
Carbon Steel
Langfields are specialist carbon steel manufacturers of process plant for the Hydrogen, Waste to Energy, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Nuclear and other process industries.
Low-carbon steels are relatively easy to weld, while high-carbon steels may require more precise heat control to avoid cracking or distortion. Common welding methods for carbon steel include MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding, with MIG welding being the most commonly used for its speed and ease of use.
