Three Wise Men
Salford said a fond farewell to three wise men who have all retired after an amazing career of 117 years between them! Three exceptional highly skilled tradesmen and gentlemen – what an achievement.
- Ged Keigher – 58 years – Sheet metalworker, time served at Langfields
- Alan Smallwood [Big Al] 38 years – Welder
- [Young Ged] Ged Yates – 21 years – Welder
What a fantastic achievement of loyalty and dedication to the business.
During their careers, they have worked all over the world for the business, deploying their skills in numerous countries, including China, Israel, and various spells in the Middle East and throughout the UK. Often putting the business first at short notice, with Alan even turning out on Christmas Day to assist a client with an emergency breakdown.
With Ged Keigher, we will probably not see another employee with his length of service again [well, hopefully not!!], starting his career as an apprentice at Salford, and the latter part of his career moving into Project Engineer for the Site Services Division.
Alan and Young Ged are a great testament to their dedication as well, both joining Salford from other businesses, with 21 years being the shortest period here.
The guys have seen a number of changes to business throughout their careers, from privately owned to being part of the Envoy Group of Companies.
The three gentlemen have been instrumental in a lot of the successful projects which have been delivered throughout their careers to the exceptionally high standards and quality which has been expected at Salford. Always acting as ambassadors whilst away on business, whilst mentoring numerous apprentices at the start of their journey. Which we all truly appreciate.
We would like all like to thank you all for your time here, where you have worked alongside some great colleagues who are lifelong friends.
We all wish you and your families a long and happy retirement, which you all deserve.
A presentation was made to the guys, where their colleagues joined them to share memories and say a fond farewell.
