Best in class welding of super duplex steels.
Welding SDSS requires strict control to maintain its 50% ferrite – 50% austenite microstructure, ensuring optimal mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
Duplex stainless steel (DSS) and super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) share a similar dual-phase microstructure, consisting of approximately 50% ferrite and 50% austenite. However, super duplex stainless steels have higher alloy content, providing superior mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
Materials specifications include:
- Super Duplex Stainless Steels – UNS 32750 & UNS 32760

-
Super Duplex Stainless Steel (SDSS) Applications
Best for: Highly corrosive environments, high strength, extreme conditions.
-
Industries & Applications
- Offshore & marine – Oil rigs, subsea pipelines, desalination plants
- Petrochemical & refineries – Heat exchangers, pressure vessels
- Chemical processing – Acid storage tanks, reactors
- Shipbuilding – Propellers, shafts, hull components
- Power generation – Heat recovery steam generators (HRSG)
- Mining – Slurry pumps, conveyors
-
Why Choose SDSS?
Higher strength (~550 MPa yield strength) than DSS
Excellent pitting & crevice corrosion resistance (PREN 40+)
Ideal for chloride-heavy environments (seawater, brine, acids, etc.)
