A qualified Engineer and International Welding Technologist with 38 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas sector, Richard has extensive experience in welding engineering and fabrication including Offshore Jackets & Topsides Platforms and subsea infrastructure including, Pipe Spools, Risers and Production Manifolds. Experience gained during 19 years working in both the Nigg and Ardersier Fabrication facilities in Northern Scotland and latterly since 1999 with the opening and subsequent development of the Sonamet fabrication yard in Angola.
This facility produced a substantial volume of Offshore equipment including Jackets and Topsides, Pipe Spools, Risers, Pressure Vessels and Hybrid Riser Towers. For the past 5 years, Richard has also managed the development of highly productive pipeline welding technologies particularly for fatigue sensitive applications and the qualification of welding procedures for offshore pipelines in locations including Malaysia, Argentina, Bangladesh, India & West Africa. Pipeline materials have included high strength carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloy clad pipelines installed in both the ‘S-lay’ and ‘Reel lay’ configurations.
