Production Manager – Deephaven

Job Objectives

To support in the overall delivery of the Group’s business objectives in line with Langfields standards and Core Values.

Responsible for supervising operational activities within their area of the fabrication facility to ensure that efficient production is maintained in order to meet specified requirements.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Production Manager is responsible for:

  • Establishing a good working relationship with all chargehands and support staff to ensure the efficient running of the fabrication facility.
  • Establishing a good working relationship with all subordinates to ensure the efficient running of the fabrication process.
  • Maintain regular contact with the Facility Manager, Lead Project Manager, and external contractors to define the scope of projects and the resulting implementation plans.
  • Monitor and report on project progress in a structured manner, drawing particular attention to deviations from the original plan.
  • Identify the resources required at each project stage to meet project objectives and negotiate the release of these resources with operational managers.
  • Direct management of all production activities, including:
  • Control and issue to subordinate personnel the specifications, procedures and drawings required to produce the finished product.
  • Awareness of contract documentation, procedures and processes and adherence to any ITP/Quality Plans in force.
  • Notifying support personnel of the requirements for materials, sub contract, consumables and plant to achieve the production schedule and the allocation of same to the workforce.
  • Management of work produced by the labour force, reporting and correction, in collaboration with QA and management personnel, any non-conformances.
  • Ensure the availability of, and adherence to, any relevant documented quality procedures or work instructions required to meet the relevant specifications.
  • Training and continual personal development of subordinates.
  • Establish a close External working relationship with Clients, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers and Third-Party Verification Bodies to achieve the project objectives.
  • Reporting contract delivery status to relevant personnel.
  • Workshop equipment is maintained and kept in a safe operating condition.
  • Management of ISO14001 & 45001 standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures are met throughout Langfields and for ensuring a safe place of work under the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of Langfields and is within the remit of this post.
  • Identify the resources required at each project stage to meet project objectives and negotiate the release of these resources with operational managers.
  • Assisting the Sales & Estimating Manager with the information required to quote jobs correctly.

Compliance with and commitment to:

  • Langfields Quality Policy and Quality Management System Procedures.
  • Ensuring the arrangements defined in the Health, Safety & Environment policy is implemented.
  • Ensuring risk assessments for work activities are identified and controls are implemented.
  • Co-operating with investigation teams to enable thorough investigation to be carried out, including, if required, participation as a member of the investigation team.
  • Undertaking safety inspections to ensure safety arrangements and control measures are complied with.
  • Ensuring that personnel are adequately trained, competent and resourced to enable them to implement the arrangements defined in the Langfields Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures, and in the site-specific risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Reporting on Health, Safety and Environmental arrangements.
  • Consulting with the workforce on Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
  • Promote improvement suggestions with employees on Health, Safety and Environmental matters.

Minimum Competency / Qualifications / Experience on Recruitment

5 years of relevant experience in a similar role within the fabrication/engineering industry is preferred.
